Music sites such as Noise Trade offer listeners a slew of musical
genres that far exceed what people are exposed to through the radio. What’s
great about Noise Trade is that it allows for a domino effect of music
acquisition. Typing in a favorite band or artist in the search bar will lead to
the discovery of similar artists who were previously unheard of. Noise Trade is
a far more advanced version of the iTunes Genius app that offers the public
easy access to the kind of music that everyone should be listening to.
As mentioned in earlier posts, much of today’s radio waves
focus on playing the pop music that has taken over the past five years. The
notion of indie-rock hitting the airwaves seemed like a pipe dream until bands
such as Imagine Dragons and the Lumineers exploded onto the scene. While their
music is good, the best thing about the aforementioned bands is that they’ve
created an opportunity for similar sounding groups to reach a broader audience.
One of these, undoubtedly soon to be, breakout groups is
Tough Lovers. Very much reflective of the indie genre, the group’s songs are an
incredibly fun mixture of catchy beats and genuine lyrics. Unlike much of
today’s music, Tough Lovers produce songs rather than fads. Rather than quickly
becoming grating background noise, songs off of the ‘Good Morning’ album
resonate with audience and are replayed to the point of ridiculousness.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that the music is good, it’s
doubtful that most people have ever heard of Tough Lovers. This is something
that needs to be rectified immediately. Instead of tuning into Ryan Seacrest
and hearing the same 5 played out songs, people should be branching out of
their musical comfort zones. Tough Lovers is an ideal band for this because
they are the perfect foray from one genre to the next. The music is upbeat and
catchy enough for one to imagine it blasting over the airwaves.
It is not until you reach the end of a Tough Lovers playlist
that you realize the genuine happiness that has been evoked through the lyrics
and melody of the music. The vocals exude a warmth that is matched, if not
surpassed, by the steady beats and riffs of the underlying instruments.
In addition to producing genuinely good music, the Tough Lovers are representative of a band that is truly personable. There is a lack of pretentiousness and artificial motions that make the group that much more likable. Rather than portraying themselves in a manner that suggests they are fully cognizant of their raw talent, the group ensures that fans sees them as the four guys they are. There is a genuineness about the group that makes their music that much more appealing.

Tough Lovers is a band that could easily bridge the gap
between indie and pop music. It takes next to nothing to fall in love with the
4-piece rock group because the music truly speaks for itself. Good music is
good music and once people realize this, Tough Lovers will be unstoppable.
